MAD RIVER HAT

48.00

Produced in collaboration with Montana hat maker FairEnds, this hat's patterns remind us of the shapes we saw in Dimetrodon, a madcap building that anchors the design/build movement of Prickly Mountain. Named after a dinosaur with a large membrane rising from its back that helped with thermoregulation, the building ultimately housed five families whose apartments were "plugged in" to one communal structure. Dreamed up even as it was being constructed, the resulting designs were unique and geometric—think a seven-level unit that housed a family of five plus two dogs in 900 square feet.

This hat is an ode to the geometry and sharing culture that brought the families of Dimetrodon together.
