Nathanael Roney is an artist based in Asheville, North Carolina. He begins with a black-line drawing, which he then colors and scales to larger formats. He predominately uses pen, paper, print shop, and paint. He is motivated by the idea that human purpose is the graduation from physical violence.
A statement from the artist on his colorful imprintscapes: “An imprintscape is what I call the drawings I’ve done of ravaged mountainsides. I have a difficult time thinking of anything more disgusting than the absolutely clear and present destruction we’ve brought upon this planet, and we haven’t the slightest sympathy for the natural realities awaiting us.”
